Granite plate — freight only (900 kg for the largest size). Surface plates are solid granite and run from tens to thousands of kilograms, well past what any parcel carrier will accept, so online checkout is disabled for them. They also need corner protection and a crate to arrive flat. Message us with your destination and the size you need and we will quote sea freight including crating and, where required, delivery to a commercial address with unloading equipment.

BLUETEC Granite Surface Plate 300×300–1500×1000 mm

A granite surface plate is the flat reference everything else in the inspection room is measured against. Granite is chosen over cast iron because it does not rust, does not burr when knocked, and holds its flatness without stress relieving.

Key Features

  • Flatness is quoted in micrometres over the whole face — the smaller the number, the finer the grade
  • Lapped granite wears rather than raising a burr, so a knock does not lift a high spot
  • Needs a stand or three-point support; setting one on a flat bench distorts the face
