Description
Disposable instrument — fixed service life. The sensor and battery are sealed in. The unit starts counting down when it is switched on and cannot be re-sensored or re-batteried; typical life is about two years from activation. Check the activation date on arrival and plan replacement, not repair.
Bump test before every use. Expose the instrument to a known test gas and confirm it alarms. Calibrate at the maker's stated interval. A detector that has not been bump tested is not evidence that an atmosphere is safe, and no gas detector replaces a confined-space entry procedure.
