Calibrated for grapes only. The near-infrared calibration in this model is specific to grapes. It will display a reading on other produce, but that reading is not a valid Brix value. ATAGO sells a separate PAL-HIKARi model for each fruit.

A near-infrared Brix meter reads sugar content through the skin of the fruit, so the piece that was measured is still saleable — which is the whole point at harvest and grading.
