A 650 mm stroke changes what matters
At this length the cylinder is a structural member, not a component. The rod carries its own weight as a cantilever when extended, buckling has to be checked against the stroke rather than the thrust, and the foot mounting needs to be bolted to something that will not flex. Where the load is offset at all, a guide or a floating joint is not optional.
Air cushion at long stroke
Over 650 mm the piston reaches full speed long before the end cover. The adjustable air cushion decelerates it over the last part of the travel — without it, a cylinder this size hammers itself and its mounting apart within months. The CA2-Z generation made the cushion easier to set, which matters when the right setting has to be found by trial on the machine.
What changed in the Z generation
Mass reduced by up to 15% against the previous design, with mounting dimensions unchanged. Auto switches from small body types to strong magnetic field types can all be fitted, and rod end fittings and pivot brackets can be specified in the order code rather than bought separately.
