Description
SMC CKZT40-90T — CKZT series power clamp cylinder, ø40 bore, base mounted. A toggle mechanism multiplies the cylinder force and locks the arm at the clamped position, and the whole unit is built to survive a welding cell.

Toggle mechanism and locking
A plain cylinder holds a clamp only as long as air pressure holds. The toggle linkage in a power clamp passes over centre at the clamped position, so the arm is held mechanically — air loss does not release the part, and the holding force does not depend on the line staying up. The same geometry multiplies the cylinder force, which is how a ø40 bore produces 1,200 N at the arm.
Built for the welding cell
Weld spatter destroys ordinary cylinders: it sticks to the rod, tears the seal, and jams the linkage. The anti-spatter construction shields the moving parts, and the proximity switches are specified to keep working in the magnetic field around a weld gun, where a standard reed switch gives false signals. At 54 mm wide the unit also fits between fixtures on a crowded jig.
Typical use
Body-in-white welding jigs, fixture clamping on assembly lines, and any station where a part must stay located through a process that would defeat a standard clamp.
