SMC SY5200-5U1 — SY5000 series 5-port solenoid valve, plug-in base mounted type. The plug-in construction carries the wiring through the manifold base, so a station is replaced without touching a single wire.

Why plug-in
On a non plug-in manifold each valve is wired individually, so replacing one means opening the loom and re-terminating. A plug-in valve makes its electrical connection through the base, so the station is unbolted and swapped in a minute — which is the difference between a five-minute stop and a shift's downtime on a line with thirty valves.
Service life
200 million cycles with a metal seal is an order of magnitude beyond typical requirements, and matters on high-speed indexing where a valve fires several times a second. The elastomer seal version reaches 70 million and seals tighter at rest — pick by whether cycle count or leakage is the constraint.
Higher flow, smaller valve
The increased flow rate of this generation often allows a step down in valve size for the same cylinder, which saves cabinet space and air.
