SMC JB40-8-125 — JB series floating joint, sized for ø40 compact cylinders. It absorbs shaft misalignment and out-of-parallel mounting between the rod and the driven part, so the two do not have to be aligned during installation.

What it does
A cylinder rod is made to take axial load, not side load. When the rod and the driven part are even slightly off centre or out of parallel, every stroke pushes the rod sideways, which wears the rod seal and the bushing and eventually bends the rod. A floating joint takes that movement in the joint instead, and removes the alignment work at installation.
Typical use
Fitted at the rod end of compact cylinders driving slides, gates and jigs — anywhere the cylinder and the load cannot be aligned precisely, or where the load position shifts during the stroke.

Order by the full code JB40-8-125. The first number gives the cylinder bore the joint is designed for, the second the rod thread and the third the length, so all three must match the cylinder. The JB25 size is also available. Tell us your cylinder model and we will confirm the matching joint.
