Force at ø80
A ø80 bore gives roughly 3,000 N at 0.6 MPa — enough to move a machine door, a heavy slide or a press platen. At that force the mounting is structural: the foot brackets need bolting to something that will not flex, and the reaction has to be carried into the frame rather than into a bracket plate.
Foot mounting
Foot brackets bolt the cylinder body to a surface parallel to its axis, which suits a cylinder lying along a frame member. It is the most common arrangement for horizontal pushing, but it puts the thrust line off the bolt plane, so the bolts see a moment as well as shear — check bolt size and spacing against the thrust rather than assuming.
What changed in the Z generation
Reshaped covers cut up to 10% from the mass of the previous design, with no change to the mounting dimensions, so a Z cylinder drops into an installation built for the older series.

Order by the full code MBL80-250Z. Bore, stroke and mounting are in the code, and rod end fittings and pivot brackets can be added as suffixes. This code has no built-in magnet — the MDB versions carry one. The 350 mm stroke (MBL80-350Z) is available in the same configuration.
