SMC MGPM25-90Z — MGP-Z series guided compact cylinder, ø25 bore with 90 mm stroke, slide bearing guide. Two guide rods carry the side load instead of the piston rod, so an offset load will not bend the rod or wear the seal.

Why a guided cylinder
A plain cylinder rod is made to take axial load. Hang a plate or a gripper off the end and every stroke works the rod sideways in its bearing, which shows up as a leaking rod seal within months. The MGP carries that load on two guide rods running in their own bearings, so the piston rod only pushes.
Longer stroke, more overhang
At 90 mm the guide rods extend a long way when the cylinder is out, and the allowable side load falls as the stroke extends — the moment arm grows with it. Check the load and its offset against the stroke-end figures rather than the retracted rating, particularly on a vertical lift where the plate carries a gripper.
What changed in the Z generation
Shortened guide rods and thinner plates cut up to 24% from the mass of the previous design, and the rods are up to 22 mm shorter, which reduces the clearance needed behind the cylinder. Band-type and strong magnetic field auto switches mount directly without adding width.

Order by the full code MGPM25-90Z. Bore, stroke and guide type are in the code. The L suffix gives a ball bushing guide for faster, lighter duty. Strokes from 20 to 200 mm are available in this bore.
