SMC AS4000-04 — AS series speed controller, in-line type, body size 4. Meter-out flow control with threaded ports, sized for large-bore cylinders where a push-in fitting type would choke the flow.

Why the in-line type
The body sits in the tube run rather than in the cylinder port, so the speed can be trimmed from a point the operator can reach. With Rc 1/2 ports and a free-flow C value of 4.6, it passes enough air for large-bore cylinders without becoming the restriction itself.
Typical use
Speed control on large cylinders, presses and gate actuators, and any circuit where the cylinder port is buried inside a machine frame.
