Description
SMC SY5420-5DZ-01F-Q — SY5000 series 5-port solenoid valve, three position type, body ported with Rc 1/8 connections. Both solenoids de-energised leaves the spool centred, so the cylinder can be stopped part way through its travel.

Why a three position valve
A two position valve always drives the cylinder to one end or the other. The third position lets it stop mid-travel — needed for jogging an axis into place, holding a load when the sequence pauses, or letting an operator move a mechanism by hand during setup.
Electrical entry
The DZ suffix specifies the connector style. Electrical entry is worth checking as carefully as the valve function, because a valve with the wrong entry will bolt on and pipe up correctly and then leave you with a loom that does not reach or plug in.
SY5420 variants
This is the same body as the SY5420-5LOU-01F-Q; the suffix changes the centre position type and the electrical connection. Closed, exhaust and pressure centre behave quite differently on a power cut, so confirm which the circuit needs.
