Why the ISO interface matters
The mounting face, port positions and bolt pattern are fixed by the standard, so a size 1 valve from any manufacturer bolts onto the same subplate or manifold. On an existing machine that means the valve can be replaced without touching the piping, and a plant can standardise on one subplate across several valve brands.
Three position operation
With neither solenoid energised the spool centres, so the cylinder stops part way through its travel rather than being driven to one end. That is what allows an axis to be jogged into position, a load to be held when the sequence pauses, or a mechanism to be moved by hand during setup. The centre type — closed, exhaust or pressure — decides what happens on a power cut and is part of the order code.
